Soak up the Sun in Darwin

Relax, recharge and enjoy the sunshine against the beautiful backdrop of Darwin’s unique scenery and coastal coves. Known for its pristine natural beauty and as a wonderful place to slow down, explore, and adventure. Unwind and soak up the tropical goodness that this stunning region has to offer.

There’s something magical about watching the sun set slowly over the clear blue waters. An array of colours from blush pinks to burnt oranges and bright yellows. Nature’s own golden hour is right here on our doorstep.

So, with the dry season in full swing, we’d love to share with you our top spots to visit in this beautiful city that we are lucky enough to call our home.

Mindil Beach Sunset Markets

Stroll along the glorious stretch of sand as the sun meets the horizon in a blaze of technicolour glory. Local artisan stalls and hawker food style trucks adorn the foreshore, a great spot to pick up some unique pieces and immerse yourself in the wonderful melting pot of cultures unique to our beautiful city.

The markets are, of course, very close to our hearts here at Embella. In 2005, our founders Sally and Ross set off on a tour around Australia’s vibrant market scene, initially spending six months at Darwin’s Mindil Beach Sunset Markets. We are now celebrating our 17th year here! Swing by say hi and pick up some treasured unique pieces of handcrafted jewellery. A perfect keepsake reminder of your magical Darwin experience!

Parap Village Markets

Enjoy the ambient backdrop of local live music as you wander through the winding passageways of Parap Village Markets. Discover inspiring collections of handcrafted gems, relaxing massages and fresh produce. Stalls adorned with clothing, jewellery, local art and specialist crafts are overflowing with treasured pieces for you to take home.

Loved locally for its extraordinary world flavours, tantalise your senses as the aroma of freshly ground coffee and Asian cuisine, fills the air. Grab a coffee, or a tropical fruit smoothie, or find the perfect spot to tuck into a hearty Asian breakfast (we highly recommend the laksa!)

Star Village Arcade

Dating back to WWII and originally a popular open-air theatre, Star Village Arcade is a little gem filled with local history. Now a vibrant shopping precinct in the heart of Smith Street Mall, explore the quaint little shops filled with delightful handcrafted treasures and memorabilia.

In 2012, we proudly opened our first Darwin Boutique here. Today, we are celebrating our 10th year in this beautiful city! We feel truly blessed to be part of this beautiful inspiring community. We’d love for you to visit us and be a little part of your tropical Darwin adventure.

Tiwi Islands

A world away from the hustle and bustle of Darwin’s city centre, the Tiwi Islands are a perfect display of what makes the Northern Territory so unique.

Explore the pink-coloured sandy shorelines and watch as the stunning clear blue waters lap the shore. Breathe in the fresh ocean air, sip on a fresh coconut straight from the palm trees and enjoy the rugged beauty and untouched wilderness. These beautiful islands are rich with traditions of local indigenous culture and arts.

Transport yourself straight to relaxation mode and stay a few nights at Matt Wright’s tranquil Tiwi Island Retreat a remote, natural paradise where anything is possible - Sally absolutely loved her stay at this one-of-a-kind ocean retreat.

Crocosaurus Cove

Ever wanted to get up close and personal with one of Darwin’s most infamous residents - the iconic Saltwater Crocodile?

Located in the heart of Darwin city, Crocosaurus Cove allows visitors a unique, up close and personal view of these magnificent creatures. Tick off bucket list experiences such as swimming with the crocs, holding a baby Saltwater Crocodile and a visit to their unique Turtle Billabong. A uniquely Darwin urban wildlife experience, right in the heart of the city!

Kakadu National Park

One of the largest national parks in the country, Kakadu plays host to some of the most spectacular wildlife, waterfalls and wetlands!

Head out to one of the jumping croc cruises to see the mighty salties, or take a joyride in a helicopter over some of the wildest landscapes you'll ever see.

Come and adventure with us...

The hidden gems of Darwin truly feel like a place only your imagination can dream up. It’s a place where culture is cherished, the people are warm and welcoming and there’s something incredibly magical about watching the sunset over the clear waters.
