Amethyst for February
February's Birthstone; Amethyst, is a common variety of Quartz that is easily one of the most recognisable gemstones on the planet. With its spectacular purple colour, that ranges from deep violet to light lilac, it complements both warm and cool colours. Derived from the Greek word “Amethustos” it roughly translates to “sober” or “not intoxicated”. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed Amethyst would ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus; God of Wine and Agriculture, keeping them clear-headed.
Citrine for November
Citrine has unique qualities and is known as a secondary birthstone for the month of November. Zodiac signs that can benefit from incorporating this stone into their lives include Aries, Gemini, Leo and Libra. Characterised by a pleasant pale yellowish colouring, it can occur in nature but also can be made by heating smoky quartz or amethyst to extreme temperatures to produce slightly darker yellow tones.
